On Steampunk -
from /tg/ with love:
"I personally think the reason that Steampunk sucks so incredibly hard is because most people treat it like it's based on anything other than Victorian Era science fiction. Instead of musing on the marvels of technologies yet to be explored as the people of the era would have imagined them, the entire concept has been reduced to little more than an excuse to have androids, cyborgs, and giant robots in otherwise generic fantasy settings. That, and how the hell did this become a niche fashion trend? Why the hell is anything that even remotely resembles Victorian fashion or antiquated clockwork machinery suddenly Steampunk?
I swear that within a decade or so I'll see historic Victorian homes listed as Steampunk Properties, and the day I do I'll purchase one just to raze it to the ground."
